Class Experience

Upon taking this class, students will be able to ...
Identify macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients
Understand the caloric values of protein, fat, and carbohydrates
Calculate the percentage of protein, fat, and carbohydrates
Gain an understanding of how to eat better by knowing the nutritional value of food
This class is the introduction lecture to my Health and Fitness Science students I teach at the university level. As a health and wellness educator since 1990 and a certified sports nutrition coach, I hope my introductory lecture will spark a level of interest that carries over to other health and wellness topics associated with fitness!
Classwork is assigned and is interactive with Dr. Bryan. Students will need access to a calculator and a food label of their favorite food.
Students simply need a food label of their favorite food, a calculator or calculator app on their phone, a pen or pencil and some scratch paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are welcome to attend as it is best to get the entire family involved in making sensible food choices.
