Herps Teen Explorers Club (Reptiles & Amphibians)
Class experience
Calling all teen herps (reptile and amphibian) enthusiasts to come join and help build out this 1 X per week unique learner guided club. Here teens will vote on the upcoming weeks herps topic discussions, YouTube videos to watch together, books, Minecraft builds, and more! Want to spend an entire class talking about the Komodo dragon? Take a vote together and decide. Want to create a Minecraft build at home about your favorite herp and share it during the club? Bring it! This club will be...
Students will take an active roll helping to guide the club's herps learning and social experience. Every club member gets one vote per club decision made. I have been teaching since 1996, the year I graduated with my Bachelor's degree. I have taught science classes online for over a decade. I've participated in two democratic K-12 programs where I learned how to help facilitate student and staff democratic decision making. In these programs, each member gets one vote and helps shape the program experience. Thus, the democratic club experience I'm offering here with the teens herps club.
Learners are welcome to show and tell about anything they have related to herps. This can include: herps books, toys, Minecraft games, homemade videos, household pets, artwork, clothing, and customs.
We may be using the following resources including YouTube, Minecraft, Quizlet, and Wikipedia.
If we use YouTube, Minecraft, and Wikipedia, they'll be shared using screen sharing.
I offer math enrichment (MathArt) and natural science online classes that address other subjects (also known by unit studies, thematic units, integrated learning, and cross-curricular). What is MathArt? MathArt is a thematic educational journey...
