I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in creative writing from Brooklyn College and a Master's of Adolescent Social Studies Education from the College of Staten Island. In both of these programs, I excelled in both academic and creative writing and tutored other students. While briefly teaching in public school, I led writing projects.
Book report due before Day 5
Short story due before Day 8
Outline due before Day 11
Essay due before Day 13
Research question due before Day 14
Outline and sources due before Day 15
Research paper due 1 week from last day of class.

Students will also need to prepare a short presentation about their writing project for class 4, 8, 12, and 16.
Students will need to type their written pieces in a word processor, such as Google Dogs or Microsoft Word. Students will receive an outline they can optionally use for Part 3 and Part 4.
All student work will receive detailed feedback. Feedback will focus on clarity, focus, and form. There will be additional feedback parameters for each type of writing we do; for example, in part 3, students will receive feedback based on how well they argued their thesis statement. Students will receive corrections on spelling and grammar, unless they request not to. Each writing assignment is open ended with a lot of student choice. There is no set minimum length, with the exception of the argumentative essay, which must be at least 5 paragraphs. Students should endeavor to write as much as necessary to fully meet the needs of their prompt.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
