Heroes and Villains: An Intro to Literary Analysis
Class experience
In this class, students will be introduced to the basics of literary analysis, otherwise known as literary criticism. (Literary criticism is a close reading and interpretation of a literary text, such as a book, play, poem, short story, or even screenplay/movie). They'll learn about: Plot (exposition, causal events, climax, and denouement/"falling off") Setting (the time, place, and social reality within which the story takes place) Characterization (protagonists and antagonists, as well...
Students will gain a basic understanding of some of the most important components of literary analysis, which will help them as they begin to write essays for literature classes.
I'm an American Writers and Artists Institute trained freelance copywriter and editor, and I teach several literature classes here on Outschool.
