Students will learn basic signs related to summer in American Sign Language (ASL). They will begin by learning vocabulary signs for summer, places we go in the summer, things we do in the summer, and things we like to eat during the summer. Once the vocabulary is complete, they will choose a favorite activity or place relating to the season, and will learn to ask and respond to "What do you like to do in the summer?" or "What is your favorite thing about/to do in summer?". Students will learn the signs for summer and some of its' related words and activities using American Sign Language. They will learn how to express what their favorite thing is about summer or their favorite thing to do in summer.
I am a Sign Language Interpreter. I have been working in the public schools as an interpreter, language facilitator, tutor, and language model for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing for more than 10 years. I communicate through sign daily with students in schools (preK-12th) and friends in the Deaf community.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
