In this lesson students will learn how to manage emotions through color meaning. They will learn how they are feeling and different ways to control those feelings. The book that will be shared focuses on color meaning which allows students to understand emotion by linking it to a given color. Happiness=Yellow Sadness=Blue Angry=Red Fear=Black Calm=Green Love=Pink After getting to know each learner in the class we will talk about different feelings/emotions the class may already know. We will then read The Color Monster: A Pop- up Book of Feelings. The book is simple, colorful and pops up which makes it extra fun for kids! During the reading students will be asked comprehension questions that help them identify different emotions and what they can do when they feel those emotions. For example: When students learn about anger, they will be asked to think about something that makes their anger go away. After the reading we will practice showing each emotion by playing a fun game of Simon Says. I will say, "Simon Says, show me your angry face." All students will then show their angry face.
