Homework
1 hour per week. In my classes , I use multiple diagrams to help students visualize how to find topics, find subsequent ideas for building paragraphs and I utilize canva to show learners how to find reliable sources. The homework will be specific to each class and should take no longer than ten to fifteen minutes. If a student is struggling with ideas or completion, I will work with them happily. Students will engage with not only me, but other students who have enrolled as well. We will discuss all aspects of the course as well as share our homework assignments to gain different perspectives. Students and parents can email me at any time if they have questions. I will be adding in several fun games to help the students choose topics and build upon their papers. It is a great way to encourage those students who find it hard to pin down a topic of interest.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
In this class, your learner will be introduced to new ways of finding their voices. We will use open ended statements, games, role play and strategies to use so they lose the fear of putting our thoughts onto paper. By first breaking down "why" the words are hard to find, is it perfectionism, language rules, unwilling to share your ideas or lack of ideas that are stopping you? There are many reasons why we cannot find our voice, let's find many solutions together and go from stuck to story building!

With each ongoing class, we will learn new ways to move beyond the β€œI’m stuck” phase of writing. This is not a high pressure, demanding class. Students will engage with not only me, but other students who have enrolled as well. We will discuss all aspects of the course together in chat as well as upload and share our homework assignments to gain different perspectives. Students and parents can email me at any time if they have questions. I will be adding in several fun games to help the students choose topics and build upon their papers. It is a great way to encourage those students who find it hard to pin down a topic of interest and it assists in having a timeline for learners to share with others. Students will be evaluating and learning from each other's assignments as well as watching the videos using canva. No account registration is required.

1st Breaking down where our creativity gets stuck and fun games to teach us new ways to write

2nd Sharing ideas we are passionate about so we become more at ease with turning our visions into paragraphs.

3rd Using role play to find our voice.

4th Turning a game into a story.

5th Finding another word for.....expanding our vocabulary

6th Be descriptive with our writing

The videos are shorter than a live class. Your child is welcome to pause, rewatch and take notes. Since this is not a live class with interaction, all of the information can be presented in a shorter time frame. Thus making it more informative and easier for students to sit through.

Hello, my name is Angela. I teach classes to all ages and abilities.

I love teaching in a low pressure, fun atmosphere. I believe the most rewarding aspect of learning is the gained ability to connect with others.

I have a BA in Child and Family Service, I am a certified librarian, with TESOL and TEFOL certifications, 25 years of teaching experience with varied ages and abilities. My specialty is helping children with anger/anxiety issues, along with neurodivergent students who may need a little extra support.

My passion is helping others fulfill their learning goals. I am a lifelong learner and love to pass that passion along to my students. My days begin with teaching children of all abilities. When I am not working, I am usually on my farm playing with my pigs, ducks and chickens. I can't forget my two dogs too!

As a mom of two, I know the importance of individualized lessons. Every child is different and it is my goal to teach how they learn. They need to leave my class feeling like they can add a new skill to their lives. Teaching is one more way to build confidence in my students and I love every moment of it.
