Hello! Thanks for your interest in 1:1 Homework Rescue! My name is Kristi and I'm here to help your child get their homework done. This one-on-one private class is geared towards ages 3 - 12 (preschool through 5th grade), but the age range is flexible so I can help older students as well. “Kristi, what is this class all about?” I’m so glad you asked! This class is taught in English.
This class will be tailored 100% towards your child and what homework help they need at the time we meet, therefore, the class goals are variable. The overall goal is for your learner to be guided through a portion or all of an assignment for which they need specialized help or accountability. During class we will focus on a specific homework assignment that your child needs help with. I can assist with assignments in any subject.
I have a bachelor's degree in computer science with a double-minor in math and environmental science. I have a master's degree in business management. I taught online at the university undergraduate level for 12 years. I have worked with younger kids in an online teaching environment since 2018. I am very academically focused and advocate for providing many resources to kids who need assistance with their education. (I'm also sort of funny, which helps kids learn a bit better….or keep them a bit more focused….or at LEAST make the time we spend together not so boring!)
One-on-one class time is 25 minutes. If your learner has not completed an assignment during that time, towards the end of class we will discuss an action plan for assignment completion. This could be a number of potential actions such as working on their own to finish the assignment, working with a parent, sibling, or friend, or scheduling another time with me in the future.
Learners are expected to have all necessary assignments and supplies with them during our class time. This could be their printed assignment and a couple of sharpened pencils, or it could be just their laptop. Some common supplies that could be needed for various student assignments might be scratch paper, notebook, pens, pencils, calculator, laptop, crayons, map pencils, etc.
25 minutes per class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
