Are you ready for a thrilling educational experience for your 4th grader? Look no further! The individualized learning group allows students to work at their own pace while enjoying the company of their peers. With over 35 years of experience, I have created an engaging and project-based curriculum that focuses on STEAM learning. Your child will explore math, language arts, reading, science, and social studies in a fun and interactive way. My curriculum is designed for both advanced students and those who need extra help.

By the end of the semester, your child will have mastered fourth-grade math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through exciting word problems. They will also delve into the fascinating world of fractions and decimals. In reading, they will enhance their vocabulary and learn to decipher unfamiliar words using prefixes, suffixes, and word roots. Your child will also get to explore different genres of literature, from myths and legends to non-fiction materials like encyclopedias and reputable Internet sites.

But that's not all! Your child will also get to discover the wonders of science through topics like the motion of objects, electricity and circuits, fossils, meteorology, and inherited traits. In social studies, they will learn about American history and the geographic features of the US states, and how they have changed over time due to settlement and industry.

With my exciting and engaging curriculum, your child will develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Join us today and watch your child's curiosity and creativity soar!
The curriculum covers the national fourth-grade standards in the following:

Assignments will have fixed due dates, and I expect students to submit them in .doc, .png, or .jpg format within a week of the due date. I will provide feedback and allow resubmissions. Additionally, interactive notebooks will be periodically checked as they will be used as a resource for some lessons.

I provide tailored support for students who require individualized instruction. This includes offering shorter writing tasks, sentence prompts, and step-by-step guidance with outlining to help students craft their sentences. My approach is adapted to meet each student's unique requirements, and I am happy to teach one-on-one or with a small group, as needed. I am eager to welcome your learner to my class, where they will enjoy a friendly and stimulating learning environment.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS
As a teacher, I expect my students to treat me and their classmates with respect during class participation. It's important that everyone contributes and demonstrates their progress by showing their work on camera. While I won't pressure anyone to read or share, I do hope for active interaction as we move through the class.

In the resources sections the graphic organizers and other material that the students will need to use in class. There will be time set aside at the end of class for students to be able to share their activities.

During my classes, I prioritize interactivity and encourage movement by promoting discussions. It's important to ensure that your learner has ample space to move around. I find great pleasure in engaging each learner by asking questions or seeking their opinion on the subject matter. Above all, my ultimate goal is for each learner to enjoy themselves while they're learning.

LESSON PRESENTATION
During each 55-minute class period, I will present materials through screen sharing a PowerPoint presentation. Occasionally, I may also use videos from YouTube to aid in the lessons, which will also be screen shared with the students. Students will not need their own Google Docs account or YouTube subscription, as I will provide them with a private link to their own Google Docs.

I will screen share the materials that students need to read, as the primary goal is for them to learn and apply the skills taught in each day's lesson. In the resource section, I will attach the syllabus for the week's lesson, as well as graphic organizers and materials for their interactive notebooks. These materials will need to be downloaded before the start of class. Additionally, students will need a college-ruled spiral notebook that will be turned into an interactive notebook. This notebook will serve as a record of their lessons, and the first page will be set up as a table of contents for easy reference.
All students should have the following for classes
pencils and pens
a journal for writing
A spiral notebook which will be a combination of an interactive notebook and a portfolio of what the students will learn.
art supplies like markers or crayons
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses Google Docs and YouTube videos. Students do not need their own subscription as I will screen share the materials during class.
MUTING:
I do my best to encourage participation from learners enrolled in my classes. I prefer to leave learners unmuted, but as a parent myself, I understand that there are instances where learners need to be muted due to background noise that cannot be prevented. Parents, please feel free to mute your learners at your discretion.

Sometimes, I may have to use the mute option. This happens when there is noise in the background that could disturb other students who are taking the same class. In such cases, I will inform the student that I am muting them to reduce the background noise.

RECORDINGS:
At the start of each class, students will need to visually indicate their attendance. Afterward, they can turn off their camera except when they need to display their work. For safety and security reasons, some students may only be able to participate visually through Outschool. Recordings are not shared automatically in the classroom. I aim to foster a welcoming and secure learning environment where students can engage fully. The class recordings are created automatically and available for viewing. If you experience any difficulties accessing them, please inform me so I can assist you.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Master's Degree in Education from University of Phoenix
I am a licensed elementary school teacher in the state of Texas. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Ed.S in Educational Technology. I have lived and worked as a teacher in Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, Minnesota, and Colorado. In each state, I was a licensed/certified elementary/middle school teacher. In addition to working with elementary and middle school teacher, I have worked for several years as a special education teacher and online ESL and private teacher. In public schools, I specialized as a teacher by working with students who had severe physical, mental, and cognitive issues. Also, I worked with students who had severe Autism and who were also diagnosed with High Functional Asperger’s. Currently, I work online as an English Language teacher, writer, and teacher trainer. My two favorite historical figures are Abraham Lincoln and Malcolm X because each person never allowed failure to stop them from their eventual success as a person. My passion is to work with students in small groups and individuals who require scaffolding instruction to be successful. In addition, I love to teach a variety of courses and have a variety of interests that I want to share with my students. I love to teach project-based courses that incorporate reading, writing, math, and technology skills in relation to history and cultural awareness.
I love learning! I am in graduate school and attend many workshops. I have completed my Educational Specialist degree in Educational technology, my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, my Bachelor of Arts in Specials Education and my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I also have an Associate degree in Early Childhood and a TESOL in English as a Second Language. I attend many workshops and have received my certifications as a Language teacher (Phonics, English as a Second Language, Language-based Disabilities).
In addition to working for Outschool, I have a business “Michelle’s Innovations” and provide services as an
•	an ESL teacher and am contracted with several Asian companies as either a small group or one on one teacher
• training for other teachers via webinars and in-person workshops.
•	adjunct professor for an online community college, Aimslee Institute
•	Innovative Schoolteacher a Teacher Pay Teacher’s online education store
•	Customized lessons/tutoring for students who are homeschooled,
•	Professional Learning for education professionals and proofreader for writers
As a public school teacher, I received training in multi subjects, including science, writing, reading, math, and geography. As a result, I also taught children from PreK- 8th grade in the above subjects. My certifications have included these areas, as well as a resource, teaching, and ESL. My favorite subjects have always been science, reading, writing, and geography, so I have been fortunate in that I have been able to teach these subjects to students who are extremely interested in these areas.

My husband is a retired Navy person and we have lived in many different parts of the United States of America. In addition, my own family has lived in Europe where my Dad worked as a teacher. I love to share and believe that we are a global community that needs to live together.
