Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Let's go on an exciting animal adventure and pretend we are hedgehogs! We will curl up into balls and protect ourselves with our prickly quills. Then, we will eat venomous snakes, escape from hungry foxes, and learn about hibernation.

Through this multi-sensory experience, we will learn about hedgehogs and be able to answer questions, including:
- Are hedgehogs nocturnal, or are they also active during the daytime after it rains?
- Do hedgehogs hibernate during the winter season because it is harder to find food?
- How do hedgehogs protect themselves from predators using the behavior of self anointing?
- Why do hedgehogs have so many prickly spines called quills?

Join this expedition and color a hedgehog drawing! At the end of this lively class, we will share our art.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. My mom taught at a bilingual elementary school in the South Bronx. I always admired the way she spent countless hours preparing for classes and the way she loved her job. I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps.

Most of my eight years of teaching has been in the museum education field. I have taught hands-on arts classes in science, art, and history museums in Florida and Massachusetts, as well as abroad in Costa Rica.

I live in Florida with my husband and our cat, Patrick. I have a B.A. in Art History degree as well as a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Florida. Additionally, while I was working in a history museum in Boston, I took evening classes in Art Education at Harvard.

I believe that learning should always be engaging and fun. My experience has taught me that most children learn and retain information the best when the lesson is hands-on. My classes have educational topics that incorporate an arts and crafts activity.

I look forward to the opportunity to teach your children in a fun and creative way. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
