In this one time course, students will prepare their own hand pies filled with a filling of their choosing! We'll make colored icing to drizzle on top too! These will be fun, beautiful, and most importantly delicious! A Valentine's treat!

In this one time class, young chefs will create their very own versions of a hand pie. We'll put a fun twist on it by making them heart shaped (or any shape) and make some fun icing to go along with them! During class I'll start with a short introduction of all learners, review materials and ingredients, then dive into the class. Heart Shaped Hand Pies Ingredients: 2 refrigerated pie crusts, any brand (Please set out at room temperature about 10 minutes before class starts) 1 can of fruit pie filling, I think strawberry or cherry look best with these! (Please open before class) 1 egg 1 cup powdered sugar (divided) Milk as needed (About 1/4 cup) Red and/or Pink Food coloring (or any color) Optional: Sprinkles to finish off your hand pies Materials: 1 2-3" heart shaped cookie cutter, or any shape cookie cutter 2 forks 1 spoon 1 small bowl 1 sheet pan lined with parchment paper 1 butter knife 1/2 Cup measuring cup 1 Tablespoon sized measuring spoon 1 pastry brush Clean work surface to press out pie dough You'll need one small bowl for each color of icing you'd like to make We'll be shaping and filling the hand pies with our hands so please come to class with freshly washed hands! Optional: Apron and chef's hat, paper towels or towels for any messes or wiping hands
