Each week students will learn a healthy habit through stories and activities. From being more proactive, acquiring better listening skills, or finding balance. They will enjoy the adventure and fun of the characters in these stories, along with an engaging activity. These will guide students to on a path to becoming healthier and happier in their everyday lives. Each class will begin with a fun check-in (example: "If you could be any type of animal which would you be today and why?). We then read a story and engage in a corresponding activity. We will close each class with a goal or grateful statement. Each week of this ongoing class we will meet to read a story, talk about it, and participate in a fun and interactive activity (drawing, journaling, game) around a different 'habit' that we can add to our 'toolkit'. Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Master's Degree in Education from University of Phoenix
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University
I have over 20 years of experience teaching grades 3 through 8. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, where I studied Elementary Education. In addition, I have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My classroom environment fosters imagination, growth, and experimentation. Students feel safe exploring the learning process, and proud of their accomplishments. My passion for teaching many subject areas, but particularly reading, writing, arts, and SEL is quite evident as I often believe in weaving the disciplines together in a cross-curricular approach. I have attended many reading and writing conferences over the years to keep up on the most current literacy practices. In my free time I enjoy reading, yoga, journaling, blogging, and writing poetry. Sharing this passion with students is a tremendous joy!
