Number 1 item: Blender safety tips!! Remind your learner to never touch the blades!! We will review this in class!

Please have your blender and ingredients ready!! You may download the copy of "Breakfast Smoothie Ingredients" that I've attached to this class.

Each of the six layers has choices. Please choose one ingredient for each layer. Have it measured and ready to put in the blender! We will pause and talk about health benefits as we add each layer.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm so glad you stopped by my profile!

I have a teaching degree from Trinity International University with a minor in Social Studies. I have a long and varied background in education. Over the past 30 years, I have taught in public and private schools in Texas, Illinois, and in the Middle East. I have also homeschooled my own four children. Currently they are all teenagers, and one is a homeschool grad! I have enjoyed teaching homeschool co-op classes. I have also taught online ESL classes.

This background leads me to a wide variety of interests in teaching! Reading books is one of my first loves! I currently lead a book club for moms and another one for teenage girls. So, English Language Arts is a true passion of mine. Some favorite books include Jane Eyre, Lord of the Rings, Tale of Two Cities, Little Women, Ann of Green Gables, and the Narnia series.

Readers inherently become writers, so I love to springboard off of great literature into writing exploits. Writing is another of my great loves. I update my blog regularly. Writing is a great outlet for creative expression! It's arduous, but thrilling, to make something out of virtually nothing! Many times students don't realize that they are good writers until they are challenged to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).

Another passion of mine is cooking. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen feeding my four teenagers and husband! It's a wonderful challenge to find healthy, sustaining meals and snacks for them. I also love combining my love for books with my love for food!! Have you ever experienced a Lord of the Rings Marathon? It's a memorable way to dive into the story of Frodo and friends by cooking the food mentioned in the story! You will find that some of my English Language Arts classes contain a cooking portion!

My teaching style is interactive and Socratic. Deep levels of thinking and learning can be tapped by talking and listening to one another. I personally do some of my best thinking by talking with and listening to others. I look forward to talking with and listening to you in class soon!
