Healthcare Exploration will be a four week long engaging, student centered course focused on introducing the world of healthcare through medical careers. Students will learn about a variety of careers in healthcare including job descriptions, education, salaries, and job outlook. The purpose of this course is to help students explore their interests and see what health career may be right for them. Students will learn through live lessons, in class engagement activities and project based learning. Every 55 minute class will be structured using the following guidelines: introduction bell ringer, class discussion, direct instruction (content), class activity, closing and exit ticket showing mastery. Course Plan: Week One- General Introduction to Healthcare and Student Self Assessment Week Two - Health Careers Part One: Therapeutics Careers (Ex. Physician, Nursing, etc.) Week Three- Health Careers Part Two: Diagnostic and Rehabilitive Careers (Ex. X-Ray Technician, Physical Therapist, etc.) Week Four- Careers Conclusion and Career Readiness - End of Couse Career Project Due
Learning Goals
By the end of the course, student will gain knowledge on what future health careers interest them. Student will be able to thoroughly explain one health career in detail as evidence by the end of course career project. Student will be able to list skills, knowledge and actual programs in order to achieve their future healthcare goal.
