Description

Class Experience

Learners will learn how to stay healthy, happy, and active. We will learn and practice a variety of fun exercises to develop upper body, lower body, and core strength and focus on flexibility and cardiovascular fitness in fun, motivating, and encouraging environment. Athletes will learn and practice wellness skills such as meditation, importance of being positive, and why healthy eating is important. As a Physical Education teacher of 30 years, I know what activities athletes love! These activities were my students favorite during digital learning days. They have been kid tested and given the thumbs up. I know your child will also have a blast in this class. I can't wait to connect and get moving! 
My passion is teaching, planning, and coordinating engaging, hands-on, FUN, and meaningful curriculum with emphasis on fitness, health, sport and physical skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I teach 250 plus students, PK-8th grade daily at my school in Portland, OR but have Fridays and Summers for Outschool.  I earned a M.A. ED. in Education and B.A. in Physical Education / Health. In addition, earned a teaching credential in Oregon and California. I have been a physical education teacher, health teacher, and coach for 30 plus years.  I love connecting with student athletes and love teaching!  
Homework / Extension Activities: Each week students will be asked to practice the challenges and then post videos to Flipgrid link (easy to do) so that students can learn from each other and inspire each other to live healthy, happy, and active lifestyle. I will be sending you a link and ID number. My students love sharing their videos and inspiring others. Sending in videos are optional, no worries if your child doesn't feel comfortable, we can communicate another way. 

Flipgrid is easy-

1.	Click Flipgrid link.
2.	Put in your Student ID number, this will be given to after the first class. 
3.	Video or text message on your computer like you would with your phone. If you open link on your phone you can use the camera feature. 
4.	Watch other student's videos for fun and inspiration

A full list of ingredients for Healthy Food Week will be sent to you when you sign up. Apple Pops or Banana Sushi - Ingredients for Healthy Foods Week: Muffin tin to hold toppings (or small bowls) Sticks for pops or forks Microwave microwavable dish 3-4 apples cut into wedges for apple pops or 3-4 bananas for Banana Sushi Lemon juice or lemon lime soda Melted dark chocolate or caramel base Student choice: (1-4 toppings suggested) • mini marshmallows • graham crackers • chocolate chips • chopped peanuts • shredded coconut • cinnamon brown sugar mix • peanut butter • Nutella • almond butter • honey • sesame seeds or chia seeds (banana sushi only)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I provide a weekly class update and highlight all the successes.  I am happy to share your student's individual progress, please contact me anytime. Don't forget to ask your child to share with you their video submissions of their weekly challenges.
