Week 1: Be Kind to Your Brain: - The way you talk to your brain can affect your mindset. Talk to your brain the way you would talk to a friend. Several scenarios will be discussed where kids overcame obstacles by changing the way they thought. Writing Inspiration "Failure is not an outcome, failure is NOT trying." Learners will be asked to write about what that quote means to them. Week 2: Everybody Makes Mistakes- It is okay to feel disappointed after making mistakes but someone with strong self-esteem will look at mistakes as an opportunity to grow. They will realize that some mistakes can be good. Activities: Learners will be given several scenarios and decide if they are big mistakes or small mistakes. Bigger mistakes are made when other people are affected. Accepting responsibility for mistakes will be discussed. We can't learn from our mistakes if we just blame them on others. Learners will be given a list of strategies to use when they make a mistake and select 3 to use in the future. Week 3: Problem Solving. Learners will learn a 5-step plan to solve problems and will use it to solve one of their current problems. Week 4: Think Outside the Box - Sometimes we have to "think outside the box.” This helps us to be creative. This lesson will discuss tips for thinking outside the box. Hi! I am Karen Evans. I am excited to help you learn!
Teaching has always been my first love and now I am enjoying it during this chapter in my life. I am a semi-retired Director of Human Resources. That career has given me the opportunity to teach classes on Leadership, Confidence, Self Esteem, Careers, Social Injustice and other Life Skills.
As an elementary school substitute teacher for the last 5 years, I can also invest in your child’s reading, writing, spelling and grammar. These fundamental courses are the foundation to your child’s success in life.
I value education and have a Masters Degree in Human Resources and Management and am a adjunct faculty member teaching Human Resource and Management courses at Park University.
I have an easy-going, interactive teaching style that is fun!
I would love to transfer knowledge to your child.
