All musicians can agree— an early start with piano is fundamental to a lifetime of music making! In this group class, 3-6 year old students meet together in a group to learn simple songs, practice proper hand posture and technique, play musical games, and set the stage for the rest of their musical career! This class will be led by Shanice Aaron, who has completed a Masters degree in piano, and uses teaching techniques from the Suzuki Method. Students that are joining for the first time will be asked to watch an introductory video lesson provided so that they can have a basis of knowledge for this class. Classes will move through material at the pace set by the group. Topics may vary, but lessons that will be covered include: How to sit at the piano Proper hand position C position Layout of the piano The notes on the piano Playing quarter notes Playing quarter rests Identifying high and low sounds Identity fast and slow Keeping time and more! Practice assignments will be given at the end of every session. IT’s recommended that students spend at least one hour practicing in between each class session to master what they have learned.
