1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Hayao Miyazaki was born during World War II and was deeply influenced by the war. We will not go into deep discussion but the war, his mother's illness, and his childhood hardships strongly influenced his work as an animator. Please note that not all of Hayao's films are child friendly. We will not discuss these films and we will focus more on his influences and animation geared for children. The only mention is perhaps the title of a film or simply specifying "this film is for adults". Please email Mrs. V with any concerns.
We will refer to multiple Studio Ghibli films that Hayao Miyazaki has directed; Nausicca Valley of the Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, The Wind Rises, Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away.
