Hawaiian Christmas: Easy Holiday Songs on the Ukulele (Ages 9-13)
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time course, students will learn to play 6 simple, classic holiday songs on the ukulele and sing-along with the teacher in an mini-performance at the end of the class. Students will begin class by learning a few basic chords from the songs, and reviewing how to strum in different rhythms to match each song tempo (example: down, down, up, down, up...). They will then be presented with 6 holiday songs: Mele Kali'kimaka, Jingle Bells, Feliz Navidad, Deck the Halls, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, and Silver Bells. After which, students will be learning and practicing how to play the holiday songs with the teacher until they are proficient enough to perform independently. At the end of class, we will have a sing-along to perform the songs together to demonstrate what they have learned. It is my goal to make the learning process fun, and encourage students to sing and participate by allowing each member to take turns strumming/playing their instrument at appropriate times during the lesson. I hope to make your holiday season merry and bright with the joy of music. See you soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have experience teaching students ranging from grade school ages into adulthood, tutoring 1-on-1, and teaching large groups. I was a language and art/music teacher in Europe for about a year, while traveling around Europe and the UK, where students came to learn English and study various topics through theatre and play activities. In the past, I've also taught kindergarten through 5th grade students in a US public school, and I taught ESL online for nearly 3 years as a certified teacher.
I graduated in 2017 from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. I am currently studying front-end web design while working as a private tutor and website creator. In my free time, I enjoy playing music on my ukulele, travel photography, and baking. I have a passion for all forms of art and the creative process that comes with it.
Whatever my current situation may be, I feel motivated to empower young students to realize their academic and creative potential through meaningful play and personal mentorship. I am looking forward to creating fun and productive courses through Outschool and I look forward to seeing you in my classroom soon!
