Description

Class Experience

Each student will produce at least 2 individual haiku poems and 1 small group poem (depending on the size of our group - if there's more interest in individual poems we can stick with that for our time together)

They'll learn the origins of Haiku Poetry and how it has grown over time as an art form taught in most high schools.

They'll experience haiku from the serious to the hilarious and will have the chance breakdown each poem we read together into syllables as well as meaning
I'm an arts therapist and have worked with children for many years using the arts as way to go deeper into their experiences. I'm also a published author and was a spoken word poet in the NY and NJ area.
Paper Pen/Pencil a piece of fruit/vegetable, any kind!
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Poem content is dependent on the poet ... however, I will make sure all shared poetry is appropriate
