US Grade 5 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
During this camp, students will receive instructions on the concepts of fractions. The class will begin with an introduction of fractions, which consists of the definitions, and explanations of the parts of a fraction. The students will learn about the types of fractions and how to simplify them. Students will learn about adding fractions with like and unlike denominators whether proper fractions or mixed numbers. The same is also for subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. Students will also learn how to multiply, divide, convert, and find the equivalent of fractions. I will instruct and demonstrate, in each class, how to solve the fraction problems, then the class will practice the skill together, and after extensive practice the students will work similar problems independently. We will discuss the results as a class. Students should have knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These operations will be utilized to solve the fraction problems. This class is auditory, visual, and consist of hands-on learning. The teacher and students will interact through discussion, questioning, and problems solving.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Carla, and I am always excited about teaching and cannot wait to teach your learner. My favorite subjects, personally and to teach, are math, reading, writing, and science.
I have taught students through Outschool for the past two and a half years. For over 15 plus years I have been employed in diverse roles within the education sector. I have been a teacher, substitute teacher, instructional support, lead teacher in a childcare facility, volunteer, and tutor. I have my Associates of Science in Office Information Systems, Bachelors of Science in Psychology, and Master of Education Degree (PK-8), and I have also been fortunate to work with students who were high schoolers, special needs, and homebound.
In my class, your student will use their prior knowledge, share ideas, participate through discussion to help develop their academic and social skills. I look forward to getting to know your student and learn how they learn to better support them in their success in school.
Not only do I enjoy teaching, but I am also an entrepreneur, avid gardener, crafter, and carpenter.
