In this class, learners will explore the history of LGBTQ+ figures through the lens of Black American history and the contributions of vital figures of that community. Figures like Marsha P. Johnson or Audre Lorde or even Alvin Ailey. Your learner will interact in this information-based class with other learners in their age group and are welcome to engage in prompted discussions as they are comfortable. Students will explore Black culture and LGBT rights from a historical lens of learning. This class will be a safe place for LGBT and/or Black students and aim to encourage the value in each of our contributions to the relationships we share in our communities.
I have studied this topic extensively as it relates to my own desire to learn more about my community. During that pursuit of true understanding of our study, I learned so many Black and LGBTQ+ Americans do not yet know how our cultures are so interconnected or yet know how vital members of our community are responsible for the positive attention to our communities needs.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
