In this class, we will explore classic and contemporary writings of English literature. This is a class designed for middle school students! In this 8 period intensive literature class, we will explore literature and books used in 6th, 7th and 8th grade language arts! This is part 1 of a 16 week class. Students will be able to analyze a work of literature for theme and connections to life.
This class is suitable for all ages, however, parental participation might be helpful for some discussions.
Homework will be assigned following class and will include selected passages and comprehension assignments including discussion questions and analysis of reading. Students will have a weekly discussion question in the forum as well!
The teacher will provide notes and facilitation of discussion ideas and comprehension activities to students. The teacher will also provide videos/tutorials and other materials if requested. Students will need physical or digital copies of the listed novels, available on Amazon for $5-$12 USD.
Learner progress is assessed through class participation and completion of assignments.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
This class is suitable for all ages listed! Themes of a strong nature (death, illness, separation, violence and dark tones, including forced child marriage, abuse, child labor and greed) may be addressed and discussed (parents will be cautioned in a note in the class prior to these topics).
We will use digital/physical paperback copies of the selected novels.
