Class Experience

Beginner Level
Because Art is considered subjective, there are no right or wrong ways to teach, the classes will focus in the beginning on drawing with pencils, graphite to be precise, lets see what comes to the mind with a simple pencil.

Once engaged, we will then move on to colored pencils to add to the subject the student has mastered. Classes will be lively and will encourage the student to accept their work and even to build on their work through black and white images moving to color.

In the end we will take this object and then will even try to paint the image using acrylics. Even though acrylics are less forgiving and harder to use than oils, it is better for the students at young ages to focus on a medium that is easier to use.

4-Feb Week 1: Introduction to Art - Drawing Shapes - Shapes are lively and used and recognized in all aspects, starting with something that is recognizable allows the students to look at the object objectively and draw how they see the shape

11-Feb Week 2: Defining Shapes - Shadows and Light - Now that we have a shape, we will bring the shape into focus using dark and light shading to define what the eye sees

18-Feb Week 3: Continuation of Shadows and Light - In order to see this concept, we will now use deeper and softer pressure to define more definition into the shapes we have created

25-Feb Week 4: Using Color - Color brings everything alive and make the objects move, colors are also depictive of our moods

3-Mar Week 5: Defining Color - adding different colors to our shapes we will now define how we see the colors emerging

10-Mar Week 6: Highlighting Color - in the final class we now use the darker and lighter aspects to define our shapes and bring them even more alive
Learning Goals
Students will learn to accept their work through positive reinforcement, students will also learn about distance and how to bring objects closer or farther away using simple shadows and highlights
