Class experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner Level
  • Students will become familiar with Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Annabel Lee," discuss horror as a motif in the poem, and review poetic tools like rhythm, rhyme and repetition. Students will also produce their own horror themed poem.
The poem "Annabel Lee" is the story of a dead wife with whom the narrator sleeps in her tomb. The poems that we write and share in class will be horror/Halloween themed. Students who are sensitive to horror themes may not be suitable for the class.
