Class Experience
Do the windows give a warm breeze? Can the house play music all on its own to put me to sleep? Does it have the best view in town? We will have so many laughs as we brainstorm ways to put a positive spin on the haunted house we are trying to sell, with all of its charm to potential buyers. Students will use learn and practice persuasive writing skills as we review how to write introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. The objective of this lesson is for students to be able to write a persuasive essay including proper introduction, body and conclusion paragraphs. Stating three reasons why someone should buy the haunted house they are selling.
I am a licensed Elementary Teacher for the State of Utah as well as have a Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary. I love working with students and have taught almost every grade including teaching my own three kids at home. I recently taught fifth grade and loved to help my students write persuasive writing papers. They loved this assignment, and I thought it would be fun to teach with Halloween approaching.
-Students will color their own haunted house picture to share with the class on the last day. Please do this own their own time, not during class. -If students do not finish their writing assignment by the end of the second class. Please have them finish on their own at home and be prepared to share with the class at the last meeting. I am more than happy to help if they get stuck. -It is strongly suggested that students email me their rough drafts or review them with their parents before putting it on their final paper so I can help them if needed.

Please be advised that we will be talking about haunted houses and what you typically see in a haunted house to use to persuay the buyer. Students can also select an outline drawn haunted house to color and go with their writing.
