In this workshop you will take a picture of a castle and turn it into spooky haunted-looking terror castle using Photoshop CC. You will practice opening files, using selection tools, using the transform function and blending modes to complete your haunted, terror castle. Learning Photoshop means learning techniques, you will learn some simple techniques used to enhance the image by watching the instructor and following along with your step-by-step handout. My high school students always enjoyed this lesson and would come up with great ideas to add to their haunted castles. This is a good lesson for a beginning Photoshop user that has some familiarity with the tools. There is a review at the end of the workshop you will use to see if you learned the new Photoshop terms and when to use them. There is no homework assigned but it's a great idea for you to use the handout provided in class to turn other castles into spooky castles. If you don't have Photoshop you can download a 30 day trial, and if you choose to keep it, there is a student version available. Thank you for your consideration!

You will download 4 files to complete your haunted castle: 1. An 11 page PDF file with complete instructions for your students. These can be printed out before the workshop starts, it is difficult to follow on screen with only one monitor. 2. Terror Castle Components (3 images), you need this file available so you can complete the lesson. It includes a castle, moon, bats, and lightning images.

My name is Raul Esparza, my kids would usually call me Mr. E, and I have taught thousands of students how to use their computers for fun, school work, and for their jobs. I have had students learning the computer as young as 10 all the way up to 82 (he wanted to chat with his grand kids :) I have taught middle school, high school, and college classes. It will be fun to teach your children also.
I have a degree in Biological Sciences as well as Master's of Science in Instructional Design and Technology. I live in North Carolina but through the magic of Outschool.com I can reach you and help answer technology questions you might have. My classes will consist of using different software such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and fun activities like escape rooms!
I believe in active participation so in my classes your child will answer questions as they learn, share work, and review to make sure they have learned a new skill that can be used right away. We will complete a project together and after class your child will have a chance to practice again to make sure they really acquired the new skill. It's important to learn new words and ideas but equally important is how do you USE that information?
