Class Experience

Beginner Level
Welcome to the Harry Potter Book Club! In this fun, relaxed, and engaging class, we’ll be reading the first book in the Harry Potter series, The Sorcerer’s Stone, and having spirited discussions about the characters, events, and magical adventures Harry embarks on.

Each week, we’ll explore the first book, with a special focus on the beginning chapters, and we’ll use Padlet to make our learning come to life. On Padlet, I’ll share fun visuals, music, polls, and videos to help you connect with the story in exciting ways.

Each week, we’ll read parts of the book together and chat about what’s happening in the story. We’ll dive into the characters, like Harry, Hagrid, and the Dursleys, and discuss magical events in a way that’s easy to follow and fun. After each discussion, we’ll create a simple, visual “scrapbook page” to represent what we’re learning. I’ll send over images, stickers, and coloring sheets for you to glue, color, and decorate. These pages will help you express your favorite parts of the story and give you a creative way to retell it!

Through Padlet, we’ll do things like watch fun videos, listen to magical music, answer polls, and share stickers and images that represent different characters, scenes, and magical elements. You can also add notes and ask questions to connect with each other’s thoughts and ideas. Feel free to wear your wizard robes, scarves, or any Harry Potter-themed accessories during our discussions! It’s all about making this a fun, relaxing space where we can chat about our favorite book and celebrate the magic.

This is a low-pressure, friendly environment where everyone is encouraged to participate at their own comfort level. We’ll engage in fun discussions, express creativity, and learn together—without any stress or pressure. While this class is focused on enjoyment, we’ll also touch on some educational elements like reading comprehension, creativity, storytelling, and even a little bit of vocabulary from the magical world of Harry Potter.

This class is perfect for special education students who enjoy creative activities, storytelling, and Harry Potter! Whether you’re a big fan of the series or new to the magical world, you’ll fit right in. My goal is to create a positive and welcoming environment for all students.

You’ll need a printable packet I’ll send out each week with materials for scrap journaling (you can print these at home), crayons, markers, or colored pencils for coloring, and scissors and glue for scrap journaling. You’re also welcome to wear any Harry Potter-themed gear you’d like (optional but encouraged).

Come join us on this magical journey through the Wizarding World! We can’t wait to share in the magic of Harry Potter together.
