Class experience
Welcome to the Harry Potter Book Club. Year 1 at Hogwarts is full of adventure! We will: • get our first wands • choose a pet • get sorted into our houses • learn to cast spells • learn to fly on a broom • battle a troll • fight an evil dark wizard • ...and of course, do homework and try to pass our classes! In this course, young witches and wizards will read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (book 1 in the series). Every lesson will have a discussion component, a writing component, and...
I am a real Harry Potter fan. I even attend Harry Potter conventions every year. I traveled to Ireland to learn how to play Quidditch with the Dublin Dragons. Yes, Quidditch is played int he muggle world. I started reading Harry Potter with my daughter when the series first came out in 1997. She is now 32 and we have passed the love of all things magical to my granddaughters as well. I combine my skills and a reading specialist, English teacher, and ESL instructor with my knowledge and love of Harry Potter to create an educational experience that is quite unique for my students.
Every student will need to have a print or audio copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. Students will need a designated black and white composition book to use as a reading and writing journal. All activities when completed should be stapled or glued in date order into the composition book, as well. The book will become a class portfolio that students can save. Students will also need basic arts and crafts supplies (glue, construction paper, markers, color pencils, copy paper, stapler, etc). They will also need access to a printer.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Outschool is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., owner of the Harry Potter® mark and related Harry Potter marks.
