Hello witches and wizards! In this multi-week course we will read through and discover the magic of Harry Potter, while discussing the plot with new friends. Students will build on their vocabulary, reading comprehension and creative writing skills. Each week: - Students will read through multiple chapters of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as a group, taking turns reading and pausing for important discussion - Students will then have follow up assignments asking comprehension and vocabulary questions - There will also be a bonus assignment each week with a different literary theme (Including: Prediction, Visualization, Character Development, Summarization, Story Elements (Plot and Theme), and Creative Writing) - At the beginning of the following lesson, students will share their learning and we will take up vocabulary and comprehension questions of the previous week This is meant to be a fun experience for all Potter lovers or those new to the series, to share and laugh with peers and enhance their skills in literacy!
Learning Goals
Students will enhance their vocabulary and reading comprehension through enjoyment of the Harry Potter series.
Students will build on their abilities to predict, visualize, summarize, and analyze characters, plot and theme within literature.
Students will explore their creativity through creative writing and build on use of figurative language, story structure and elements, and revision and editing.

A three-page worksheet package will be provided per lesson (online and printable), as well as materials for the bonus assignments depending on the task. Students will need a copy of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K. Rowling, which can be purchased on Amazon or at Indigo.
