Description

Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will learn the process for mummification in Ancient Egypt. They will learn about the tools used, reasons for mummification, and the process of preparing the dead. Students will explore an ancient tomb in a virtual field trip. The class will see photographs of mummies, sarcophaguses, and other Ancient Egyptian artifacts. Video clips will be used to show the story of the Egyptian Book of the Dead and a review of the mummification process (cartoon animated...

Students will understand the mummification process as it was used in Ancient Egypt. 
Students will know the tools and science behind the mummification process.
Students will understand why mummies were essential in the Ancient Egyptian culture.

I have been teaching Ancient History as a public school teacher. I have 10 years of teaching experiance

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Nearpod

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Not for the squeamish. We will be talking about and showing pictures of dead mummified bodies. We will be going into depth about how bodies were prepared, including the removal of organs.
