Class Experience

In this ongoing Harmonica class, students will learn how to play the Harmonica. Depending on their level of knowledge of the Harmonica, I will help them start or continue their journey discovering this beautiful instrument. They will be able to play the Harmonica after the second or third lesson if they have never played. Students with a little experience, or after a few lessons, will be blowing the Harmonica with backing tracks as well as jamming with the teacher. Music is an art, your student will learn this art with my help. I have a warm approach, with an ear for listening. I want the students to ask questions. Asking questions and having interaction is key to comfortable learning. Backing tracks will be used to teach and play. There will be some video showing other approaches, but mostly will be hands on learning. In the first half of lesson one, the student and I will work together to discuss experience, type of music, and over all goals to be applied to the remaining courses. We will be learning on your typical 10-hole diatonic Harmonica. Any key will work but "C" is a good starter Harmonica. After four or more weeks, your student can continue having fun learning the harmonica as we dive deeper into rock, blues country, and more. At any time over the course, your student may contact me to ask questions or get instruction via email. We will be covering many topics depending on how long they stay with this class.
Topics and tasks like:
-The basics of playing the Harmonica
-How to hold the harmonica properly
-Mouth positioning as well as tongue placement
-Hole positions and notes for each
-The different kinds of Harmonicas
-The different kinds of music played on Harmonica
-The different keys and notes and how to apply them
-How to jam independently and or with other musicians
-How to play the blues, country, and rock
-Playing cords/notes in any song
-Combining notes and blends
-So much more
