Happy Strumming Ukulele Club Semester Course: Beginner/Intermediate Level
Class experience
Students with basic knowledge and experience with playing the ukulele will learn how to play more advanced chords, mixed or complex strumming techniques, while performing popular songs on the ukulele instrument. In each class, we will begin by reviewing the basic chord fingerings, strumming patterns, and chord notations for the music selections for that week. Then we will move on to practicing and performing the series of songs. Students will be taught how to strum in different rhythms to...
Students will learn and improve upon their musical ability with playing the ukulele during each class, while memorizing chord fingerings and strumming techniques in a fun and friendly environment. As this is an ongoing course, the learning objectives will NOT build upon previous weeks' course material. Singing is heavily encouraged, although it is not necessary a part of the curriculum (songs/melodies will be taught and singing or humming the tune is helpful to beginner students).
Homework Offered
Practice the chord fingering and strumming techniques discussed in class, as well as practice playing songs that we learn during our lessons. Students can either screenshot the lesson content or they can request a copy of a song/material from the teacher to use for practice between lessons.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollment*Ukulele (Note: The teacher uses a "soprano" ukulele, but any real ukulele instrument will be acceptable. All songs and music featured in the course will be "clean" and strictly child-appropriate (PG) in content and theme.
If you do not have a physical/digital tuner device for your instrument, a ukulele tuner app is highly beneficial (and free). I use one simply called "ukulele tuner" from the Apple store; it has a mint green background and over-sized white letters that spell "uku-lele". They can also purchase a small, clip-on tuner from Amazon or their local music store/department.
I have experience teaching students ranging from grade school ages into adulthood, tutoring 1-on-1, and teaching large groups. I was a language and art/music teacher in Europe for about a year, while traveling around Europe and the UK, where...
