Happy Mother's and Caregiver's Day Celebration and Craft
During this one time class we will celebrate the mothers and special women in our lives who help care for us. We will make a personalized gift for them as well as learn a song that we can sing to make them feel special.

Mother's Day is the day that we show appreciation for the women who care for us. In this class we will celebrate them by making a craft using basic items that you may already have in your home. You will have the choice between two crafts (or you can make them both!) After that we will learn a song that we can sing to our loved ones. Then we will finish class by reading a book about love. I know that not all learners have someone that they call "mother". So I will use inclusive language for all women who have an impact on the students in my class. (Don't worry, there will be a version of this class for special dads and men in June!). Also please feel invited to join this class even if you do not have the exact supplies mentioned. We can always find ways to create something special using what you have. Class Outline: Introductions - Learners can share who they are making their craft for and why that person is special to them. Craft Time - Learners will choose between making a resist art picture or a resist art jar. Book - While Learners work on their craft, we will read An Awesome Book of Love by Dallas Clayton Song - We will sing the song Skida-ma-Rink Goodbyes ****The class minimum of 4 students will be adhered to. Please tell your friends about the class. If we do no meet the minimum one week before the class start date, the class may be canceled to allow you to make alternative plans. ****

Parental Guidance
In preparation for our class, please set up an area where the learners can get a little messy. If you are using a jar for the project. Please consider using a plastic jar or if you use a glass jar, please supervise your children closely.
Supply List
Tape Resist Art Supplies Needed: Cardboard box or Canvas Painter’s Tape Paint Paint brushes Washable Tempera Paint Before class, grown ups should place tape in the desired shape on the canvas or cardboard. (You can write a word like mom, make a shape like an art, or use geometric shapes to create a one of a kind work of art.) During the class, learners will paint the canvas or cardboard on top of the tape. Let the picture completely dry (preferably over night). Then you will pull off the tape to reveal your work of art. (You can make a heart, square, circle etc.) During the class, learners will paint the jar on top of the tape. Let the jar completely dry (preferably over night). Then you will pull off the tape to reveal your work of art. After it is dry, you can tape a picture in the open space inside the jar or not depending on what you plan to do with the jar.
