Happy Little Marker Art: Draw a Cottage With Snow and Red Birds
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn a few basic drawing skills while creating their work of art. They will use a pencil as they learn how to draw the shapes of the house, the snowbanks, the fence posts, the trees and birds, and the different ways to draw the walkway. After drawing, students will practice line work by tracing over the outline of their drawing with black marker. Students will get coloring tips and begin coloring their winter cottage using any colors of their choice. Students are encouraged to ask questions and interact with each other throughout the class. We will take a brief drawing break about halfway through to stretch and talk about our own experiences with snow. Students are also encouraged to upload a picture of their completed drawing after class to show off their creation! As a bonus, I will share a pencil drawing of this scene that is expanded with more details. Learners may use this as a template for their drawing, or they can simply choose to come to class and color the drawing if they like! Students do not need to have previous experience with drawing animals, but students should know some basic shapes such as ovals and triangles. I will be guiding them step-by-step with live demonstration and pausing for questions as needed. It is important to encourage your learner to ask questions if they need to, and to remember that art is unique. The best part is seeing how different everyone's drawing turns out to be!

Parental Guidance
Parental supervision or guidance is suggested for inexperienced or younger learners. Even though most markers will wash off of skin, surfaces, and clothing be sure that your learner knows how to keep markers on their artwork. It is suggested that your learner wear clothing that you don't mind getting marker on, and that your learner is in an area that can be wiped down. I suggest putting newspaper or parchment paper under the area where your learner will draw in case of accidental drawing.
Supply List
-A good pencil and eraser: I use the Ticonderoga pencils because they are a lot harder to break, but any number 2 pencil is fine. I also suggest a really good eraser! The pink erasers or a gum eraser are both amazing. Other erasers work, but not as well. -Art Markers: I use sharpies for most of my coloring, but I also use dual tip marker pens that have a brush tip and a fine tip. Any markers that your learner likes should be fine, but I do suggest having a variety of colors. This particular drawing uses red, green, brown, grey, yellow, and black. -Marker Paper: This can be any size your learner likes to use, as long as it is durable enough for marker drawing. There are usually drawing pads that say "marker and watercolor paper" that can be found in many stores!
