Happy Little Acrylic Painting Art: Paint Cats in the Moonlight Step by Step
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn a few basic painting skills while creating their masterpiece. They will enjoy creating the night sky while learning how to blend colors to create light and dark. They will also learn to create shadow effects to paint the moon. Students will also learn a fun technique for painting stars! Students can choose how many stars to add, as well as any other clouds or effects to make their artwork unique. Students will then learn how to paint a tree, as well as a cat silhouette. Students can choose to paint one cat or many cats. Finally, students will add fall leaves on their tree! Students are encouraged to ask questions and interact with each other throughout the class. We will take a brief painting break about halfway through to stretch and chat while our background dries. Students may use a hair dryer to help their painting dry faster if they like. Students are also encouraged to upload a picture of their completed painting after class to show off their creation! Students do not need to have previous experience painting. I will be guiding them step-by-step with live demonstration and pausing for questions as needed. It is important to encourage your learner to ask questions if they need to, and to remember that art is unique. The best part is seeing how different everyone's painting turns out to be!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of basic color blending techniques and shadowing techniques.
Students will improve their understanding of different ways to use a brush when painting.

Parental Guidance
Parental supervision or guidance is suggested for inexperienced or younger learners. Acrylic paint will wash off of skin and surfaces such as tables, but it will stain clothing. It is suggested that your learner wear clothing that you don't mind getting paint on, and that your learner is in an area that can be wiped down. I suggest putting newspaper or paper towels under the area where your learner will paint in case of spills.
Supply List
Learners will need acrylic paint in the following colors: -Blue (I use "Primary Blue" by Liquitex) -White (I use "Titanium White" by Liquitex) -Black (I use "Mars Black" by Liquitex) -Crimson Red (I use "Alizarin Crimson Hue" by Liquitex) -Orange (I use "Cadmium Orange Hue" by Liquitex) -Yellow (I use "Cadmium Yellow Deep Hue" by Liquitex) Learners will need also need: -A canvas or heavy mixed media paper. I will be using a smaller square canvas, but any size canvas or paper will be okay. -Two flat paint brushes: one larger, and one smaller. Any brand is okay. -A cup for water to clean your brushes. -A paint palette, or a paper plate to use as a paint palette. Acrylic paint can stain, so don't use a regular plate. -3 q-tips or cotton swabs -An easel is optional! If you chooses to paint without an easel, make sure to have a flat surface that is protected by paper towels, newspaper, or butcher's paper. You can buy the canvases, the paints, and the supplies at the art supply stores (Michael's or Jo-Ann's), or in bulk on Amazon. Please allow time for shipping if you choose to shop online. Paint Brush Tips: Sometimes the brush hairs come out of new brushes when you paint, so I recommend "water painting" a cardboard box or a paper plate. You can wet the brush and swirl it around, tap it, and do brush strokes with the brush to get out any lose bristles before you paint. It is also important to clean your brushes and let them dry properly after painting so that they work properly next time.
