In this one-time class, students will learn various treats and healthy snacks they can make for their backyard chickens. We will discuss chicken health, and why healthy snack supplements are important. We will talk about the foods that chickens should not eat, and then focus on the nutritional benefits of making snacks and healthy treats for your chickens. I will use a variety of images and a presentation to teach students about the nutritious needs of chickens, and then we will discuss...
Students will learn about the nutrition needs of backyard chickens, and a variety of recipes that they can use with their backyard birds.
I have been a backyard chicken owner for over five years. I currently have 18 hens and a rooster in my backyard flock, and have spent many years making treats for my chickens.
A recipe collection handout will be provided upon enrollment for learners.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Recipes and treat options will be provided for learners to make after class.
