Andrew Jackson fought a war against the Seminole tribe in Florida and while President, instigated the Trail of Tears - the forced displacement of Indigenous People. As an attempt to balance the facts mentioned during President Jackson's presidency, I will be mentioning the Trail of Tears and explain briefly that it was a forced displacement of Indigenous People. However, since this is a 25 minute factoid class for younger students, we will not do a deep dive or debate on this issue.
*Political opinions and bias, as well as deep dives will NOT be a part of the class. We will learn age-appropriate facts about President Andrew Jackson's term in office from whitehouse.gov, millercenter.org, history.com and Britannica.
