US Grade Preschool - 2
Beginner Level
This asynchronous handwriting class, designed for completion in 11 weeks, uses the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum for letter formation and the Size Matters Handwriting Curriculum for letter size and line placement. In addition to letter formation, letter size, and line placement, I also offer a video for parents on pencil grasp. Each letter and number includes a brief video (less than 6 minutes) and is accompanied by worksheets for hands-on practice during the video. My teaching style is structured yet flexible, providing clear, concise video lessons that students can follow at their own pace within the 11 week timeframe. Interaction is facilitated through our classroom on Outschool or through direct messaging. I encourage you to upload pictures or videos of completed worksheets so that I can provide feedback. No prior experience is required, making this course suitable for beginners and those looking to improve their handwriting skills. This course aims to provide a comprehensive, supportive environment for all learners to improve their handwriting effectively.

Learning Needs
All of my classes are intentionally designed to support learners of different abilities. I use consistent language when teaching, break down everything I do into small steps, and design my worksheets with strong visual cues.

Being able to copy an X, square, and circle is typically a good sign that a learner is developmentally ready to write letters and numbers.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
I am a retired occupational therapist with 20 years experience working with children ages 3-21 in public schools. I use Handwriting without Tears and Size Matters handwriting curriculums as well as my own techniques crafted during my 20 years of experience as the basis for all of my classes. I am organized, consistent, and emphasize strengths over weaknesses. I encourage my learners to embrace mistakes and make sure they understand that mistakes help us learn. My classes on Outschool should never be considered therapeutic intervention. I am acting as a handwriting tutor on this platform.
