Handwriting for Beginners: Uppercase Formation Camp is similar to my Handwriting for Beginners: Uppercase Formation class, however it is compressed into one week. Students will gain the foundational skills needed with handwriting to be successful with producing legible writing. Students will learn handwriting warm-ups, directional terms needed for letter placement, tips to size letters appropriately, and they will learn how to form letters correctly. I like to incorporate singing and...
Students will learn how to use appropriate letter formation with writing uppercase letters. This helps improve their writing legibility and can improve writing speed as they get older.
I am trained as an Occupational Therapist and I have worked with children in clinic as well as in the school setting. Many times, I see children struggling with handwriting whether they have a disability or not. It can be because they are uninterested, they have hand weakness, or because they simply have not learned proper formation. This class focuses on teaching proper letter formation, which can help a child for a lifetime in developing legible writing and faster writing speed. While I am an Occupational Therapist, this class is not to be treated as a therapy session. If your child has severe weakness or apparent development delays, it is best to speak with your pediatrician to determine the best options for them.
No homework, however it would be best if students could practice the formation for the letters they learned each class. Such as: Class 1: Frog-Jump Letters Class 2: Lively Lines Letters Class 3: C-Starts Letters Class 4: Slanty-Sliding Letters
I will provide worksheets/workbook prior to class for each session. Please print this off if possible, because we will work through them together. Also students will need a pencil, extra paper, and play-dough. If you have a small dry erase board with expo markers, you can bring this as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
