Class Experience

In this ongoing course, learners will engage in a full range of standards-based, hands-on science lessons. This course covers the Nature of Science, The Five Senses, Life Science, Matter, Earth Science, Space, and Forces and Motion.  Lessons will consist of content-based stories/readings, discussion, slides, videos, experiments, games, and activities. A shortlist of recommended, but optional materials for experiments will be provided upon enrollment. Mondays will be experiment days.
Learning Targets for the first 4 weeks of class are listed below

Week 1
Day 1: Students will be able to use their sense of sight to practice observing changes in a solution by conducting an experiment
Day 2: Students will be able to explain how our sense of sight works.

Week 2
Day 1: Students will be able to explain where different tastes are detected on the tongue after conducting an experiment
Day 2:  Students will be able to explain how our sense of taste works.

Week 3
Day 1: Students will be able to use their sense of touch to classify different texture
Day 2: Students will be able to explain how our sense of touch works.

Week 4 
Day 1: Students will be able to use their sense of smell to make observations: 
Day 2: Students will be able to explain how our sense of smell works.





Students will learn life science content will developing scientific reasoning skills in an engaging manner

Supply List
A one-page hand out will be provided for the materials needed for the following week. We will be utilizing common household materials.
