Hands - On - Preschool Letters and Beginning Sounds

In this ongoing class we will spend each class time focused on a different letter. We will be saying the letter name, sound, and playing games with beginning word sounds. We will be using playdough and other tactile materials.

Class Experience

The learning goals for this ongoing class is that your child will gain a greater knowledge of what the letters are and how we use them to make up words.
I am a licensed Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher. I have taught online, in the classroom, and have also been a preschool teacher. I attend many classes to keep up to day with the latest scientific research about early reading intervention. I want my students to secede and be as prepared as they can be for elementary school.
There is no homework but you will have printouts if you want to practice making letters and playing the games on your own.
Each week you will need playdough for the lesson. I will also be sending out printouts that you can use or you can use a mat or tray to use with your playdough if you are unable to print out the papers. Every week I will be sending you a sensory material that we will be using the following week. You can make this sensory material or you can use your playdough if you are unable to get the material.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The assessment is informal and will be the game that we play at the end of the lesson.
20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Your child should be able to do most of the activities on their own. They will need help getting handouts and materials ready as we go through class.
