Each day we will be using many hands-on materials to learn these things. I will focus on one letter and number a day. Your child will also be taught shapes, colors, and songs. Your child will be learning letter names and sounds by using many Kinesthetic activities. They will also be learning shapes, numbers, songs, and colors. I will teach them what they need to know to be Kindergarten ready.
I have been trained in the Montessori method of teaching preschool as well as Kinesthetic teaching. I have an Early Childhood and Elementary Education degree. I have taught in a preschool and elementary school.
You do not have to do homework for this class, but you will have all the materials you need to work with your child on letter names and sounds if you would like. I will also include alphabet and number cards that you can use for practice, but you do not need to do homework for class.
Plastic mat (cutting board or placemat) Play Dough 1 Sheet Protector 2 cups Rice A Ziploc bag to keep rice in. Small Cookie Sheet Small Toy Car Printouts I will send out before each week's class. I would recommend putting these things in a tote or a bag because we will use them throughout the week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The only assessment that will be done is an informal assessment when I review what we have learned at the end of class.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Depending on your child's abilities, they may need help getting material out that we are using and cleaning it up.
