In this ongoing class, students use Montessori manipulatives to explore number sense and solve problems. Students use higher level thinking skills as they explore place value with larger numbers, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, division, geometry, and more.

Description

Class Experience

Students will gain confidence in math as they work with number sense and various operations and tools. 
I have been teaching Montessori-inspired math classes for 2.5 years.  I am a certified elementary teacher (expiring in July 2023) with two education degrees from Western Kentucky University, and was a National Board certified teacher.  I have taught in public school, a homeschool hybrid school, and currently homeschool my two children, while also teaching on Outschool.
The newsletter has optional at-home extension ideas, but not worksheets. 
Printable versions (which I provide) or the physical versions of : Montessori golden beads Montessori decanomial colored beads Montessori multiplication and division boards Montessori stamp game Montessori checkerboard Montessori number cards Ruler Graph paper Dot paper Pattern blocks Play money White board/marker Wipe-off sleeves Transparent or reusable spinner (or pencil and paperclip) Dice Protractor
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Occasionally, we will use scissors or plastic knives to cut paper or play-doh.
