Homework
1 hour per week. I'm excited to share some optional homework ideas to enrich your child's experience in our art class! These activities encourage creativity and reinforce what we learn each week: Artist Research: Choose an artist we haven’t covered in class. Research their life and work, then create a short presentation (2-3 slides) highlighting key facts and one artwork that inspires you. Art Journal Reflection: Keep an art journal for a week. Each day, create a small sketch or write about how the artist’s style or message inspires you. Include notes on techniques you want to try or elements you love. Artist Statement: Write an artist statement about your own work. Describe what themes or ideas you want to explore in your art, how you’re influenced by the artists we’ve studied, and what you hope to express in your creations. Creative Writing: Write a short story or poem inspired by the themes in the artist's work we studied.

Class Experience

🎨 Explore a collection of well-known and diverse artists through hands-on art projects!

📚 Classes start with brief, colorful presentations that include fun facts about the week's spotlight artist and engaging visuals of some of their most famous art. Classes often continue with a fun (and silly) quiz time to reinforce learning. Classes conclude with an amazing art project each week 🖌️

💬 My teaching style is warm and lively, encouraging questions and curiosity in a supportive environment.

🤝 Get ready for lots of interaction (if you want it)! We’ll have discussions, interactive quizzes, and individual feedback during art projects to help you shine!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Nicole, and I'm thrilled to be your child's guide to the beautiful world of discovering new things. My teaching style is warm, lively, and nurturing, creating a safe and engaging environment where every student can thrive. Over the years, I've been honored to develop deep relationships with my students. Some have gone from hating art to winning art awards and aspiring to become artists. I'm proud that many neurodivergent students who originally disliked learning now eagerly look forward to my classes each week.

I bring a diverse background to my teaching. As a lawyer and current stay-at-home homeschool teacher and co-op educator for other homeschooled students, I have a unique perspective on education. I graduated from college in just 10 months at the age of 19 and became Michigan's Attorney General Office's "Rookie of the Year" attorney at 22. My own fast-paced educational journey fueled my passion for helping students gain confidence in learning, understanding our world, and discovering their own unique abilities and callings within it.

In my classes, I strive to make learning an exciting adventure. I use interactive presentations and creative art projects to bring subjects to life, ensuring that every student feels valued and inspired. I'm passionate about helping students come alive with confidence in their learning journey, and I can't wait to embark on this educational and artistic adventure with your family!
