Class Experience

Class Experience- in class, we will discuss letters, and figure out what styles students like (look  at the world around them: book covers, grocery store signs, billboards, movie titles, magazine, covers, even food packaging) no prior lettering knowledge needed.
Teacher will lecture on 
1. What is lettering, why is it cool?
2. Differences between typography and calligraphy
3. Basic Lettering Terminology (bounce lettering, brush lettering, crayoligraphy)
4. The difference between script and print
5. Identifying lettering tools-markers, pens, pencils, rulers, paper, sketchbooks

Learning Goals

Students will understand common terminology associated with Hand-lettering
Students will learn the difference between script letters and Print letters 
Students will become familiar with a variety of lettering tools
