1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, we will learn and practice the very basics of hand lettering - no experience is necessary! Each student will learn to write the lowercase alphabet and (if time permits) his or her name. We will practice each letter together by watching videos I have recorded of myself writing (this is so students can see from more of an overhead angle how to form each word). I will be "live lettering" along with students, so I will be able to show them a real time example as well. Students will be expected to follow along, participate, and are encouraged to ask questions. We will talk about different ways you can use lettering and example projects will be shown to students. At the end of the class, students will be provided a link to download a free, traceable, PDF version of my lowercase alphabet.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Madison.
I am a former math teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Math Education from Appalachian State University. I taught middle school math for 2 years and high school math for 3 years. I have experience teaching students with disabilities, students who are significantly below grade level, English Language Learners (ELLs), and Academically Intellectually Gifted (AIG students). I am also private math tutor and teach English online. I am married and have an almost 2 year old son, a newborn daughter, and a 3 year old golden retriever.
Besides math, another thing I enjoy is hand lettering. I took a class several years ago, and continued teaching myself. I now do all sorts of projects with that - envelope addressing, home decor, gifts, and more! I am share my passion for hand-lettering with others through Outschool!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, shopping, crafting, and spending time outside with my family.
