Homework for this class is completing the sunflower and posting a picture of their finished project. Some students may need more time to finish this project after class.Class Experience
This class will focus on learning two different hand embroidery stitches, the satin stitch and the French knot. Learners will need an embroidery hoop, cotton fabric, needles, needle threader, scissors, pencil, nickel and embroidery threads in yellow and brown. Skills needed for the class are the ability to thread a needle independently. First we will draw the sunflower on our fabric. I will then demonstrate how to separate thread into individual strands. Then we will learn the satin stitch followed by the French knot. Learners will have the time to ask questions and work on their project during class time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to separate threads, hand embroider a satin stitch and French knots.
