Average rating:4.8Number of reviews:(834)
Read William Shakespeare's play, Hamlet, and discuss what you've read in this no-stress class.
Class Experience
Let's have fun reading and discussing Hamlet by William Shakespeare. During this 6-week class, we will be reading Hamlet aloud. Don't panic! We'll be using the No Fear Shakespeare Hamlet book. This book puts plain English next to Shakespeare's Early Modern English. Learners will read the translation before each class. This will help them to understand the Modern English version. The play is set in Denmark. The King of Denmark dies. After his death, his wife marries his brother, Claudius....
Learners will develop an understanding (and hopefully an appreciation) of Shakespeare. Their reading fluency will improve. They will also be able to comprehend the play. I will show brief clips of summaries to ensure understanding of each act and scene. Meeting 1: Read Act One Homework: Read the translated version from where we left off to the end of Act One Character Chart Meeting 2: Watch a short video of Act One for review. Discuss Act One Read Act Two Homework: Read from where we left off to the end of Act Two Meeting 3: Watch a short video of Act Two for review. Discuss Act Two Read Act Three Homework: Read from where we left off to the end of Act Three Conflict Activity Meeting 4: Watch a short video of Act Three for review.
