Explore the Revolutionary War through the music of Hamilton with certified teacher Mr. Lipton! -We will learn about how the Revolutionary War started, discuss some of the famous battles and heroes of the war, and how the war ended. Mr. Lipton will focus will be on the lives of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, George Washington, Eliza Hamilton, Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross, the Boston Tea Party, Battle of Yorktown, Battle of Brooklyn, and Battle of Kip's Bay. -Biographies & history will be intertwined with the music of Hamilton in this lively, interactive class. -Students will be invited to sing along as we analyze lyrics and have a blast in this class where history and Broadway come together. Cameras must be on for the entirety of the class. All learners must be enrolled students; if two learners are sharing a device, both learners must be enrolled per Outschool policies. Learning Goals

-Students will have fun analyzing lyrics of Hamilton, and singing along!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Daniel Lipton is a second grade teacher in Brookline, Massachusetts. He has been teaching second grade for more than 18 years. Mr. Lipton has a Master's in Reading Education, a Master's in Education Administration, and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. Daniel is certified as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, math specialist, and principal/vice principal in the state of Massachusetts. He loves writing children's musicals and runs a summer theater camp. Mr. Lipton also works with students in preK-8 in various after school programs. Mr. Lipton’s passions are integrating curriculum and incorporating the arts into his teaching. Mr. Lipton was a finalist for Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2015. Mr. Lipton has two sons (ages 9 & 12) and he is very excited to work with SEG to teach several classes! Mr. Lipton also has two betta fish and a turtle, and despite his sons' protests, loves singing songs from Frozen all the time!!
